Roberto Rodriguez alias DJ Cochano wurde in Santo Domingo geboren und hat sein Leben seit seinem 17. Lebensjahr der Musik seiner Heimat gewidmet. Im Jahr 1993 zog es den jungen Künstler in die Schweiz. Hier wurde er als DJ Hot Sauce von Radio Gracias angestellt, um die Menschen und ihre Stimmungen zu fühlen und sie mit seiner Musik in seinen Bann zu ziehen. Durch die vielfältige Entwicklung der Latin-Musik in den letzten Jahren, ist DJ Cochano heute ein Spezialist in allen Latin-Genres; Raggaeton, Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, etc. Alles in allem gehört DJ Cochane heute zweifelsohne zu den weltweit erfolgreichsten DJs in der Latin-Szene.

Seine Leidenschaft für Musik entdeckte er schon als Kind. Er erinnert sich, dass seine Mutter ihn mit den Sinfonien von Mozart in den Schlaf wiegte. Das alte Radio ist noch immer eine Fundgrube seiner Kindheit. Später bemühte sich der junge Mann, andere musikalische Strömungen zu erforschen und der Allgemeinheit näher zu bringen. Daher kommt sein zutiefst menschliches Verständnis für die Macht der Musik, die universelle Sprache schlechthin, die alle Länder und Völker miteinander verbindet. Roberto ist nicht nur ein DJ, der Musik spielt – er ist ein wahrer Künstler, der es versteht, seinem Publikum jedes Mal aufs Neue das Beste an musikalischer Kunst zu bieten.

Ende der achtziger Jahre, als er als Schneider arbeitete, traf er einen DJ namens John Pipe, der ihn in die professionelle und wettbewerbsorientierte Welt der Musik einführte. Seinen Freund Roberto taufte Pipe auf den Namen Cochano. Roberto hatte sich bereits einen Namen als DJ gemacht, jedoch nur bei Familienfeiern, Hochzeiten und festlichen Anlässen. Seine Auftritte hinterliessen diesem Publikum einen enormen Eindruck, vor allem bei Festen, die von einer Spirituosenfirma namens Barceló gesponsert wurden.

Sei es in der tropischen Hitze oder die Konsole mit anderen DJs teilend, Cochano hatte verschiedenste Engagements in beliebten Nachtclubs wie: Saturn Disco, The Yambú, El Palmar, El Volcan, Rossi Club, Chicago, Cambel Disco in der dominikanischen Region von Cristo Rey; Fuego Fuego, Topaz, Chinese Aquarius, in der dominikanischen Region von Los Mina; die Cobra, Happy Cache, Circuit Cobra in der Maximo Gomez; Style Club auf dem Malecon.

Die Arbeit mit Johnny Mars, der Arbeitgeber eines Programms namens Tele Offer, ergab die Möglichkeit, mit der bekannten Gruppe Juan Luis Guerra 4:40 zusammenzuarbeiten. «Mein langjähriges Engagement und meine Erfahrung in der Schweiz hat sich gelohnt und ist fruchtbar seit ich im Jahr 1993 in dieses Land kam.»

Roberto Rodriguez aka DJ Cochano was born in Santo Domingo and has dedicated his life to the music of his homeland since the age of 17. In 1993, the young artist moved to Switzerland. Here he was hired as DJ Hot Sauce by Radio Gracias to feel the people and their moods and to captivate them with his music. Due to the diverse development of Latin music in recent years, DJ Cochano is now a specialist in all Latin genres; raggaeton, salsa, merengue, bachata, etc. All in all, DJ Cochane is undoubtedly one of the most successful DJs in the Latin scene worldwide today.

He discovered his passion for music as a child. He remembers his mother lulling him to sleep with the symphonies of Mozart. The old radio is still a treasure trove of his childhood. Later, the young man endeavored to explore other musical currents and bring them closer to the public. Hence his deeply human understanding of the power of music, the universal language par excellence that connects all countries and peoples. In the late eighties, while working as a tailor, he met a DJ named John Pipe, who introduced him to the professional and competitive world of music. Pipe christened his friend Roberto with the name Cochano. Roberto had already made a name for himself as a DJ, but only at family gatherings, weddings and festive occasions. His performances left an enormous impression on these audiences, especially at parties sponsored by a liquor company called Barceló.
